Everything’s coming up roses! We’re tickled pink to announce that Snowbirds Vintners Rosé received international acclaim this month with a Silver award from the American Fine Wine Competition’s annual Rosé Competition, held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Each year, the invitation-only wine competition accepts up to 850 international wines to participate, with judges coming from all over the world to taste the best rosé wines, all competing for top critical marks. The rosé event is a collaboration between Bob Ecker, Napa Valley based wine writer, wine judge and Founder of The Rosé Competition, and Shari Gherman, President of the prestigious American Fine Wine Competition & Gala, now in its 11th year.
With the competition judged by some of the best wine critics in the industry, the American Fine Wine Competition made sure their palates were filled with not only great wine, but great food. Central Florida based Cuisiniers Catering provided a perfectly paired menu for the event, featuring the following dishes:
Field of Greens with a Bleu Cheese and Honey Vinaigrette
Spiced Eggplant Lebeh
Brussels Sprout Slaw Tacos
Jumbo Jerk Shrimp
Green Papaya Slaw
Herb Roasted Beef Tenderloin
Raspberry Dessert Bars
The proceeds from the gala portion of event also went to a good cause, with AFWCA having contributed over $1,000,000 to charitable and non-profit organizations over the past decade.
About Snowbirds Vintners Rosé
Snowbirds Rosé 2016, the vintage entered for this year’s competition, was handpicked and harvested to retain as much natural flavor in the grapes as possible. Whole clusters were macerated on the skins, and then hand pressed early the next morning in small batches, prior to cold fermentation in stainless steel.
Shimmering salmon in color, with hints of lavender on the rim, bright aromas of wild strawberries and rose petal are present on the nose, as well as hints of white pepper and stone fruits. 100% American made, with five months in stainless steel to age, Snowbirds 2016 Rosé is crisp on the palate, with a medium body, and balanced acidity.
“Our 2016 vintage Rosé was a complete sell out, and we’re thrilled to have received such high critical marks on such a competitive stage,” said proprietor Jamie McFadden. “Our 2017 Rosé was just bottled, and we can’t wait to share a glass with all our friends and retailers that have supported us along this journey.”
