This month, Chef Jamie McFadden, proprietor of Snowbirds Vintners, is pleased to announce the release of his 2015 vintage Gewürztraminer, created for easy pairing with the springtime dishes and entertaining.
Hailed as the “king” of the grape varietals from the foothills of the Alps, and traditionally the first wine of early spring, Snowbirds Vintners 2015 Gewürztraminer was grown in the volcanic soil of the Columbia Valley AVA. Chef McFadden chose this particular varietal because of its dry, yet floral nature, that pairs brilliantly with a variety of dishes. If you love spice-driven cuisines like Thai, Indian, or even hearty French or German foods, Snowbirds Vintners Gewürztraminer will be a match made in ‘foodie’ heaven.
Aroma and Taste
Snowbirds 2015 Gewürztraminer exhibits a pale golden color, with a perfect balance of minerality, and just a hint of sweetness and fresh acidity. Fresh fruit flavors of peach compote, lychee, lemon biscuit, and star fruit are on the palate, with the extended finish blurring the lines between kiwi and cherry cola notes. Mouth feel is off-dry, with an almost effervescent finish.
Enjoy this full bodied white wine poolside, as an aperitif, or anytime that you’re in search for an all around crowd pleaser. Suggested retail is $18.
Chef Jamie McFadden, Proprietor of Snowbirds Vintners, recommends pairing his 2015 Gewürztraminer with sushi, bratwursts, or Indian cuisine. Stay tuned for food pairings, and wine cocktails with this warm weather favorite!
